The company Lapp Kabel is a worldwide leader in cables, wires, cable accessories and systems in the highest possible quality.
Cables and wires are available for many different sectors and markets: Machine and plant engineering, car industry, ICA technology, electrical and installation technology, IT, and much more.
Lapp Kabel products are manufactured primarily inhouse at Lapp Group manufacturing plants. Currently there are over 40,000 different standard articles kept in stock at the warehouses.
Increased throughput in the existing warehouse resulting from the SCS system
A high level of readiness for delivery and short response times are the most important requirements for logistics at the Stuttgart-based Lapp Group, a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-flexibility cables, plug connectors and communication technology.
As a general contractor and as part of an overall logistics planning operation, SSI SCHAEFER realised the optimisation of the small parts store in the existing logistics building in Stuttgart in a first stage. The central elements are four SCS carousels in combination with an automatic warehouse control system and user guidance functions, as well as RFID chips integrated into the bases of the LTB containers.
The result is a system offering maximum storage capacity and fast access on minimum space.The simultaneous and automated feedback on current goods stock levels and throughput was achieved using an SAP connection via a standard interface: quick responses through transparency as a total solution.
