The company is a leading manufacturer of ship diesel engines, ship propellers and power plants.
Worldwide spare parts supply with a centralised warehouse logistics solution
For one of the world's leading manufacturers of engines for power plants and ships, SSI SCHAEFER realised a warehouse concept that suits the requirements of several thousand article groups: This demanded quick and reliable access as well as an integrated article management, from the smallest sealing ring to mid-sized spare parts through to heavy pallet units.
The result was the combination of 4 previously seperated warehouses in the smallest possible space. The integration of an automatic tray warehouse in addition to storage and retrieval systems, as well as a 13 m high PICKOMAT® for the automatic small parts storage was particularly significant for the exceptional time savings. This yields 1000 m² of storage capacity on just 22 m² of floor space. Thanks to the interaction with the SSI SCHAEFER warehouse management system "ant", each product reaches its destination for worldwide shipping within 72 hours.
