Spanolux
Automatic high-bay racking to replace block storage
Spanolux MDF only began production in Vielsam, Belgium in 1997 and it is their first and only Belgian MDF plant. So this is a young company striving for perfection in the MDF process.
Their significant business success is reflected not least in the strong, continuous growth in production volumes and consistently rising turnover figures. Full storage halls in conventional block storage with low turnover levels were the final triggers in the planning and construction of a modern high bay racking system with aisle-linked storage and retrieval devices.
SSI SCHAEFER proved to be an expert partner in designig the concept, the detailed planning work and the implementation of the project.
The buffer for finished products – a three-aisle high bay racking system with one storage and retrieval device per racking aisle – was integrated into the logistical processes at the company.
Project objectives:
- Increase storage capacity
- Reduce internal warehouse handling and process costs
- Eradicate block storage areas
- Centralise the outgoing goods area
