New channel warehouse concept offers illuminating benefits
The company VOLLMAR Creationen in Wachs GmbH produces a wide range of candles in 3-shift operation.
With an annual production of 1 billion tealights, Vollmar is one of the largest producers worldwide. The objective for the finished goods warehouse: Concentration of the entire warehouse, order picking and shipment operations at the headquarters in Rheinbach to respond even more flexibly to customer and market requirements. The fully automatic channel storage system guarantees continuous production with increased quality, maximum delivery capabilities and offers approx. 17,300 pallet storage locations.
Project objectives:
- Fully automated four-aisle channel storage system with integrated high bay racking system for order picking
- Heavily seasonal production (Easter, Christmas) and a growing diversity of product ranges with customer requirements that change ever more quickly
- Volume-optimised storage of euro pallets and reduction in external storage
- Comprehensive conveyor technology with link to production, the existing manual warehouse and the entire outgoing goods section with the associated shipping preparation
- Access to 594 articles simultaneously in the order picking warehouse
