GEHE Delmenhorst
Automated access to more than 250,000 articles
SSI SCHAEFER has planned and implemented a prime example of modern warehouse logistics for small parts at a branch of GEHE Pharma Handel GmbH: The fast and reliable picking of even the smallest articles in a goods-to-man principle.
The core of the overall concept consists of three dynamic racks where it is possible to store articles in numerous channels arranged next to each other and designed with separated storage and retrieval zones, which permit the smooth running of operations.

A special feature of the overall supply system is the dispensing technology of the three SSI Pemat units: The articles are not removed manually by the order pickers, but are instead deposited as ordered from the automated units by gravity ejectors using compressed air, and with the S-Pemat using electronic ejectors. The result: Improved delivery quality, increased processing efficiency, optimum space utilisation and reduced personnel and storage costs. Automated efficiency in every detail.
Project objectives:
- Fit out a newly built wholesale plant
- Smooth-running supply of over 250,000 pharmaceutical and peripheral products
- Nationwide supply of pharmaceutical supplies for urgent cases within a maximum of two hours
- Increase delivery quality and the automation of the flow of goods
- Increase processing efficiency
- Reduce personnel and warehouse costs
- Network the picking system with the customer's warehouse computers
- Automatic handling of work preparation, document insertion, labelling, invoice insertion, weight checks and lidding
