LEK
The project of the century for the pharmaceutical industry in Eastern Europe
For Slovenian pharmaceuticals manufacturer LEK, SSI SCHAEFER has completed two warehouse projects in Eastern Europe as a general contractor. The special feature of the reference projects in Strykow near Lodz in Poland and in Ljubljana, Slovenia: In addition to modifications to create a germ-free and dust-free system solution, the objective was to plan an efficient control for the multiple flows of material including end products, semi-finished products and raw materials.
In Strylow alone, 1.5 billion tablets and capsules are produced annually. The equipment includes two curve-going storage and retrieval machines per plant. With 24 double cycles per hour – with integrated collision prevention – they ensure efficient inbound and outbound storage. Overall, the objectives were more than met: The production and logistic centre in Strykow is a "21st century project" for the LEK company management.
