SSI Schaefer, England, has now launched the environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient Schaefer Orbiter System (SOS). The shuttle system is now safely, quickly and intelligently transporting goods through racks in the UK at speeds of up to one metre a second.
The orbiter and the docking station designed for loading using a forklift form an inseparable functional unit which can be flexibly moved in the channel storage system. The forklifts pick up the docking station, including the orbiter, and place it into the centring console on the required rack. Travel commands are issued wirelessly to the SOS.
